- Inspect equipment and work area
- Check equipment operational capability
- Equipment and components are inspected in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and workplace procedures and occupational health and safety requirements to ensure effective operation
- Warning systems are checked for operational effectiveness
- Inspection is conducted in accordance with maintenance schedule and degree of use
- Identify and assess the impact of faults on security requirements
- Equipment faults are identified and assessments made of the potential effect on the operation of the equipment for the required work
- Non-serviceable equipment is tagged, reported to appropriate personnel and/or processed for repair or disposal
- Replacement(s) for non-serviceable equipment are obtained in accordance with workplace procedures
- Record and report results of inspection and testing
